Call Today For Gum Disease Treatment & Keep Your Smile Healthy From The Gums Up!830-476-5112
Our office is unique in that we closely monitor the health of gums. 'Cause that's really why adults lose their teeth, is gum disease. So we're going to check that at every appointment. And we're going to monitor it and see where you stand. Each appointment you'll know if you have gum disease or not. We'll tell you. So it won't be a surprise to you down the road, and all of a sudden you have to lose your teeth.
Our goal is to keep your gums healthy for the rest of your life. If you have gum disease we're going to treat it now. And we're going to get it stopped. You can't replace lost bone necessarily, but we can certainly stop it from getting worse, and that's our goal. If we can stop it and keep you there, most of us can keep our teeth for the rest of our lives.
We'll also teach you how to keep it from happening at home. And then we'll also set you up on a schedule that lets us help you keep it from getting any worse.
While you may worry about cavities, gum disease (periodontal disease) is actually a more pervasive problem in adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), half of adults in the U.S. have some form of it. In addition to being common, it is:
- Often not obvious in its earliest stages. You may not have any warning signs, such as pain or bleeding gums. So you may not consult us as soon as you should.
- Progressive. We can often treat early stages of it, called gingivitis, with nothing more than a dental cleaning. But it can progress quickly to a more advanced stage called periodontitis.
- Damaging. It is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.

Here’s How We Get Rid of Gum Disease
Gum disease is caused by plaque that collects around your gumline, causing your gums to become tender and inflamed. This early stage is called gingivitis. If plaque isn’t removed, your gums can pull away from your teeth, creating “pockets” where bacteria causes infection. As your body tries to fight the infection, the connective tissue that holds your teeth in place can break down, putting your teeth at risk. This later stage is called periodontitis.
In a deep cleaning treatment called scaling and root planing, we’ll remove plaque and bacteria from pockets in gum tissue and smooth your tooth roots to help prevent further infection.
